Crocodile Tears

I don't know if you knew this about me... but I am a softy and a sap.

I think I have cried at some point during every movie on earth.

If there is: love at first sight, love after conflict, an unrequited love, a rekindled love, a new love, a lost love, a birth, a death, a sickness, a mother-daughter moment, a father-son moment, sibling rivalry, someone lost, someone found, a new house, a house burned-down, a special gift, a surprise, a promise fulfilled, a promise broken, war, peace, a kiss, an almost kiss, a refused kiss, an animal in danger, a heroic moment, success, a failure, a wave good-bye, a hug hello, if someone says "I'm sorry" or "I've always loved you", if someone cries...

I will shed a tear or two... I may even request a box of tissue.

Luckily, my husband is a softy too. We look at each other during a poignant moment to see if the other has teared up yet. If you cry first, there is an unspoken agreement that you have lost... and then we laugh.

I cry at everthing, but I think tonight... I hit a new low...

I cried at a Folger's commercial.

It is before Christmas. There is a knock at the front door. A traveller has arrived after a long absence. His sister, who has been waiting for him opens the door. They put on a pot of Folger's and the smell wakes up their parents. They intuitively know that he has arrived and get out of bed. Meanwhile, downstairs the world-traveller gives his sister a gift from a far-off land. She takes off the bow and puts it on him. She says: You're my gift this year.

(... signal...) the springing of the tears

What a sap huh? Or did that one get you too?

I was alone, but I am pretty sure my husband would have cried too, and that makes me feel a little less lame.

I come from a family of criers - my mother, aunt and grandmother used to cry at the drop of a hat, like when one of us said grace at Christmas dinner. It always made us kids laugh, but I get it now. I don't cry nearly as much as they did, but will get sniffly over something like A Baby Story. I haven't seen that commercial yet though.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I remember calling my sister in sobs after seeing a re-run of ER when

(spoiler ahead)

one of the main characters died. I don't think I recovered for days....

*sniffle* I'm with ya, I'm with ya.

How adorable! I think its so cute that your husband isnt afraid to show his softer side. My fiance has no emotional side. I mean hes very affectionate, always hugging and kissing me everywhere, hes very in touch with his feelings etc...but he just cannot cry! He would love to cry, he just cannot. In the whole time Ive known him, Ive never seen him cry. Hes like my dad...who Ive also never seen cry. I guess some people are built that way. Of course this makes me look like a pathetic fool when Im the only one sobbing away at the airports whenever we have to part. I cry easily just as yourself.

Oh my god! I'm a crier too. I TOTALLY would have cried at that commercial, especially since it has personal significance for me and my parents have constantly been telling me that ever since I got home!

Okay, it was a touching commercial, but I don't know if I would have cried. I'd have to see it. It also depends on how hormonal I am :) I think its great you guys are softies! It shows tenderness and compassion.

softy here, too. I cry when people talk about crying. If you get a speck in your eye and it looks like you're crying, I will howl. It's a total detriment most of the time. But at least it's entertaining.

And I haven't seen the commercial, since I'm here (and I don't have a TV), but I would have cried, too. Hey! that's something we can do when you move here. Drink coffee, I mean.

Mosey-I don't cry at much in "real life", apparently it is just movies, TV, and commercials.

Lucie-he wasn't always a crier--though he has always been sensitive, which is one of the things I love about him.

Abby-I think part of this part. comm. is the personal significance for me too.

Danielle--you totally would have cried.

Eileen--yes I will cry if someone else cries too, or if their eyes water because of allergies, mine will water in sympathy.
Yes, coffee will be fab... and probably lots of crying... I'll start and then you can cry along.

I was just talking about this with my brother's gf. I cry during every single movie. I even cried during Finding Nemo. Yep. It's that bad.

You are not a sap - you have such an open, huge heart that gives freely of itself. I have one of those too. Some days it feels like a burden...but most days it feels like a gift that people like you and I get to feel more deeply than most.

Treasure and protect your heart and surround it with people who do the same -it's definitely what you deserve :)

And I hope you had a perfectly lovely holiday :)
